Rohit Shetty and SRK have literally taken you for a ride and duped you of your hard earned money. You actually sit through the movie just because you have paid for the high priced ticket ...
Rohit Shetty has made some memorable entertaining movies like Golmaal 1 & 3, Singham and my personal favorite All the Best. He could have had done wonders with SRK, but sadly the movie never holds your grip with SRK constantly hamming throughout the film.
Caught in the middle of goons kidnapping Deepika , SRK is forcibly taken along with her to their South Indian village where Deepika's father is the Don. Too many times, SRK and Deepika try to escape the village, take shelter elsewhere, come back again, fight and end of the movie.
The movie continuously oscillates too frequently between comedy, drama and romance failing to hold viewers' attention. The movie starts of well, and the antakshari conversation in the train seems novel and interesting but its gets repetitive and is again repeated in the second half.
Also some scenes like SRK interacting with a dumb dwarf and Deepika hallucinating & kicking in middle of night, seems forced and out of storyline. There are too many loopholes in this movie and it pricks you harder because Rohit Shetty fails to keep you engrossed in the on goings.
Some of the punchlines are good, but its not a regular Rohit Shetty film where you enjoy from start to finish. The biggest deterrent in this movie was the usage of Tamil. Ofcourse you understand the dialogues contextually but too many Tamil dialogues just turn you off , and you eventually start checking Whatsapp and Facebook for new updates !
Rohit Shetty films are not known for their music but brand SRK is. However music is a decent affair with only 1234 and Lungi Dance are topping the charts. Special mention for Dudley who is a regular with Rohit Shetty movies as a cinematographer. He has showcased Indian villages beautifully.
SRK is at his best in the first few scenes with his Grandpa and in the last emotional outburst and action scenes in the climax. You could not have imagined any other actor in these scenes, but in the middle he is at his hamming best. You cringe when he is trying to do the over the top comedy scenes or the drunkard scenes.
Deepika is the surprise package. She enacts the Tamil part pretty well , and has brought a wonderful cute accent to her Hindi.
Nikitin Dheer as the main villian looks menacing but carries one expression all throughout the movie.
Really wish there had been a Salman Khan movie this Eid. Not that I am a big fan of his movies, but atleast it would have been better than this nonsensical movie.
Rohit Shetty - please continue with sequels to Golmaal, Singham and if possible All the Best !
