Mamasan is an upscale restaurant in Central serving a variety of Asian food, primarily curries carrying rich & fresh flavors. Friendly & Attentive service sums a great experience.
A nice wooden ambiance dimly lit with an attractive painting adorning a main wall sets the mood to this Asian restaurant. It does not remain partial to any particular cuisine but pays homage to variety of dishes from Thailand, South India, Burma, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Malaysia & Indonesia.
What was most impressive was that it carried a special vegetarian menu which can be requested upon check in. The servers are very friendly and always making sure about your comfort. All the dishes recommended by our server were amazing.
Upon our servers suggestion, we had the Vegetarian Betel Leaf, Rujuk Salad & the Sri Lankan Beetroot Curry.
Both the starters of Vegetarian Betel Leaf & Rujuk Salad was unlike any dishes I had ever tasted. All the ingredients were very fresh and full of taste. Both of them had a very slight bitter taste which made you eat it slowly & savor its taste.
But the best dish was rightfully reserved for the end, which was the Sri Lankan Beetroot curry. Normally you associate these Asian curries to have a large amount of coconut milk which lends a similar taste across the South Asian cuisine.

I had a tough time, oscillating between giving it a 4 or a 3.5 ,but eventually opted for the latter. The reason being, that it serves a lot of unique dishes which you might not love to have regularly, but only on special occasions.
Also being a celebrity chef restaurant in Central makes it a little heavy on your pockets.
But a truly MUST-GO restaurant for a special evening, and way better than some crappy restaurants in Central serving at a similar price point.
