Yet another producer's son debuts in a tacky film drawing inspiration from many old Indian movies.
Romantic movies are said to be best & safest launch pads for debutantes but really wished there could have been some novelty in the story to challenge this new actor.
There is not much to write about the story, so to keep it concise , it is as follows
Rich boy meets not-so-rich girl - they fall in love - rich family insults the girl and her protective brother - boy leaves family to convince girl's family - brother asks to beat him in a farming challenge - boy huffs and puffs to the finishing line.
Reminds you of Salman Khan films like Maine Pyar Kiya and Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya. The nostalgia stays with you through out the movie. Director Prabhudeva after a caricature movie Rowdy Rathore tries to give Girish Kumar a Salman Khan type movie - literally !
Comic scenes and characters are forced into the narrative. Producer has hired best of the technicians and supporting artists to camouflage a poor story. Wish he could have spent on a better story.
Technically the movie is sound, and the music is hummable especially Jeene Laga Hu. Girish Kumar looks ok and has potential of becoming a nice actor if given better stories. Shruti Hassan re-debuting again after D-Day is disappoiting. All other supporting actors just do their job without an impact.
Give it a miss on DVD as well.
